My good friend Miranda recently bought me a gift that included a chance to name an actual star. The way I saw it, I had two choices. I could name it something spacey and cool like Starvana, or I could name it something ridiculous that will probably piss off some astronomer at some point.
I went with option B and named my star Mr. Pants. As you can see above it is in the Draco constellation at the coordinates 15h 54m 33.85s 63 0’ 38.22”. If you zoom in you can see that it is inside some sort of green and purple space blob.
My hope is that someday we’ll discover intelligent life there and the captain of a starship will have to utter the words, “Set course to the…really? That’s the name? What jackass named a star ‘Mr. Pants?’ Whatever…set course to the ‘Mr. Pants’ System.”
