I couldn’t agree more. The folks at streampad and those who build that player into tumblr templates are just as much to blame for enabling this sort of behavior. As some folks have pointed out, “well can’t you just mute your computer?” Yes I can, but then I have to mute the music that I had playing, the music I had chosen to listen to. It’s sort of like if I invite someone into my house and they start blasting music over the music I am currently listening to. Sure you can offer up some music and if I want to listen to it I can stop mine and listen to yours, but having it play automatically is rude.
This is the second post I have reblogged on this subject in the past month or so because it it is still a problem in todays day and age. It’s 2010, didn’t we all learn this lesson from myspace a few years ago?
