Early this afternoon I got one of the saddest phone calls I’ve ever received. The phone call was from Amanda’s (woeismeh.tumblr.com) mom. Last night, as many of you know based on her tumblr post, Amanda was not feeling well while making her trip to and from home yesterday. Her mom got a few alarming phone calls from Amanda, who was suffering from nausea and shortness of breath, and convinced her to either call an ambulance or have a store call one for her. Randi (Amanda’s mom) raced from her house towards where Amanda was, three hours away. Apparently, Amanda suffered what they think was either a pulmonary embolism or a heart attack. She passed away last night at the hospital. All of us our greatly saddened by Amanda’s untimely passing, she was only 29 years old and one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Kristy and I decided that perhaps if we wrote something up for Amanda, we could circulate it around tumblr enough for all of the people who knew and loved her to find out what has happened to their dear friend. So, if you have had the pleasure of knowing what a wonderful and thoughtful person Amanda was, please reblog this so that her other followers can find out and mourn the loss of a truly lovely woman.

I don’t know Amanda. I’ve never interacted with her. She doesn’t even follow me. I saw this by chance. I’m reblogging this because it reminded me very much of the loss of my best friend Tru. He was only 24 and his heart gave out. Because we lived half a country apart, we only had the internet to keep in touch. It took me months to figure out that he had passed. Not knowing what happened to him was one of the hardest times in my life. Not being able to find out any information was heartbreaking. I do not wish that fate on anyone. So I hope that by sharing this announcement, all that cared about Amanda will know what has happened.
