My dad is very much a dad. He is everything you think of when you think about what dads are like. He talks about that show with the guy that does the thing. He cracks jokes that only he seems to laugh at. He has a reclining chair. He enjoys riding around on his tractor and keeping the lawn nice and green. 

What I think makes my dad special is his dedication to our family. His unwavering desire to do what is necessary to make sure that our familial unit gets by. Whether it was his years of doing backbreaking labor as an auto mechanic, or just making sure I have a ride to the doctor. His dependability is rock solid and his love for this family is without question. He is always there for us. 

I often say that I am extremely lucky to have such amazing and understanding parents. I try my best to not take that for granted. I love my dad very much. When I am grumpy and he is grumpy and our grumps collide… even then… I still think he is the best dad.
